YASH APRAMEYA - DIGITAL DESIGN (ARCHITECTURE)
Sian (pulse interviewer)
What is your name and can you briefly introduce yourself and your art?
Yash
Hi! My name is Yash and I am a designer. Some of my mediums include illustration, graphic design, and architecture! In the future, I hope to continue my work in social justice by using architecture.
Sian
How did working in digital media grow to become part of your identity?
Yash
I have always loved digital media, and have been making edits and banners of my favorite shows and franchises since I was 10. As I progressed into my art, I found the skills applicable to everything I study and learn about, no matter the scale: materiality, dimension, layering, and color.
Sian
What’s the work you’re showcasing today in our interview about?
Yash
It’s from a personal project of mine designing composting towers in Bangalore. This project aims to offer solutions to mitigate issues in the city of Bangalore, including waste distribution, loss of space, and lack of greenery. These compost towers were designed entirely parametrically using grasshopper code, accommodating for millions of potential iterations.
Sian
What informs your artwork?
Yash
My work is informed on a practical level by community and human consideration. Aesthetically, I am influenced by graphic design pedagogy and its current trends, such as the maximalist movement, monochromatic palettes, etc.
Sian
Who is your favorite architect?
Yash
This is kind of a hard question! A lot of architects have cool work and less cool takes on world issues-- Zaha Hadid is one that comes to mind.
Sian
Can you offer a piece of advice to other architects or artists in general?
Yash
It's okay to stand out and do something different; take risks and have fun with it!
Sian
Where can people find you or your art?
Yash
@the_designosaur on Instagram.
